This professional-level, exempt, full-time position reports to the Deputy Director. The Department of Education Director, in conjunction with executive management, plans, coordinates, and manages Chugachmiut educational programs, including day-to-day operations, as well as actively participates in strategic planning, grant development, and administration. Programs. The position is also responsible for department contracts, MOAs, grant management, and policy & budget development, including research, review, and advisement.
Major Responsibilities:
Hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating all Department of Education staff. Coordinate and supervise programs offered by Chugachmiut's education department, including workshops, presentations, and special educational events. Identifying trends and needs in education and designing programmatic responses, including preparing program descriptions and narratives for grant applications. Develop and nurture relationships with other organizations to strengthen connections with Chugachmiut communities. Development of budgets for education programs and tracking to ensure that programs operate within financial parameters set for in the board-approved budget. Oversight of scheduling of education programs. Interpretation and compliance with relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards in cooperation with administrative staff. Participation in grant proposal planning, preparation, tracking, and compliance with reporting requirements. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Grants management
Education Requirements:
Master's degree in education or a related field is required. Five to Ten years of experience as a full-time faculty in an institution of higher education: school systems or university level. Superintendent or Principal experience a plus Experience writing and administering grants or other external funding. Experience with Indigenous populations of students. Familiarity with working with non-traditional students. Experience with budget development and management.
Hours of Work:
The work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with one hour for lunch. Chugachmiut maintains a drug and alcohol and non-smoking work environment. Travel to remote locations by boat, snowmobile, ATV, or small plane is needed, and employees must be willing and able to travel.
