PUBLIC WORKS FOREMAN

The Town of Boscawen is seeking an experienced full-time Public Works Foreman. The Foreman supervises and engages in a variety of tasks in the areas of highways/roads, the transfer station, cemeteries, sewer systems and Town owned land. The Foreman provides day-to-day supervision to the crew and work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Public Works Director. The department is made up of 8 employees. Examples of job duties include but are not limited to: Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the activities of the Public Works Department; confers with the Public Works Director in determining plans and policies to be observed in the conduct of public works operations. Assigns work, equipment, and manpower according to projects as needed. Modifies methods, procedures, and priorities to meet changing conditions and determines materials and equipment needed to complete the job. Interprets work orders, specifications, or other instructions, and explains required procedures to Equipment Operators/Laborers as needed and inspects work in progress for conformance to plans and instructions; checks for employee safety. Receives and investigates resident's complaints regarding tree removal and repair, bad road conditions, and street sign replacement; dispatches crews as warranted. Assists the Public Works Director with Cemeteries, overseeing grave digging, record keeping, mowing, and trimming. Assists the Public Works Director with managing and directing the operations of the Transfer Station and ensures Town is in compliance with State and Federal rules and regulations. Manages maintenance and care of sewer mains. Maintains records and prepares reports on completed work. Operates equipment and performs all duties of subordinates as needed. Candidates must have at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in highway construction, sewer systems and other public works projects including three years in a supervisory capacity. Possession of a valid CDL-B with an airbrake endorsement and no automatic restriction. Possession of a valid New Hampshire Transfer Station Operator's Certificate, NH Weights and Measures Scale Certificate and Underground Storage Tank Facility Operator OR any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Sense of humor and ability to work as a team is a must. Must live within a 30-minute travel distance. Starting Hourly Salary Range

39 This is a full-time non-exempt position compensated with an hourly rate with a generous benefit package.
