Property Management Assistant (Certification Specialist)

Job Description

Job Summary The Property Management Assistant or Certification Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting individuals and families in securing and maintaining stable housing. This position involves working closely with clients for housing and recertifying current tenant's eligibility for affordable housing programs. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of housing programs, including LIHTC and Section 8. The candidate in this position will assist the Property Manager with the leasing and recertification process of affordable housing programs. Responsibilities Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all certifications, including communicating with clients and outside business to verify eligibility, not limited to income, assets, student status, expenses, etc. Assist clients in completing applications for housing assistance programs such as LIHTC and Section 8. Maintain accurate records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes in compliance with organizational policies. Stay informed about local housing resources, regulations, and best practices in property management. Provide education on housing rights and responsibilities under relevant laws. Assist with regular unit inspections including make-ready prior to new tenant move-in Conduct regular audits and reviews of property files to ensure compliance with HUD & state Low Income Housing Tax Credit regulations Requirements Strong working knowledge of housing programs, including LIHTC and HUD Section 8, at 2 years of experience working with these programs is preferred Familiarity with relevant laws governing housing rights and tenant protections Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment Ability to speak, read & write in Spanish required Strong attention to detail & accuracy Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
