Job Description
Material Purchasing Assistant Richland, MI (100% On-Site) Pay & Benefits $31.25/hour (Firm Rate) Comprehensive benefits package includes: Health Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance 401(k) Weekly Pay Schedule Monday through Friday Flexible schedule with an 8-hour workday Start time must be 8:00 AM or earlier Must be available until at least 3:30 PM daily Little to no overtime expected Employment Type 6-Month Contract Assignment This position may be extended beyond six months and could potentially convert to a permanent full-time opportunity based on business needs and hiring approval.
Please Note:
To be eligible for permanent conversion, candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or be within six months of completing one. Candidates without a qualifying degree may still be considered for the contract assignment. Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Material Purchasing Assistant to support daily purchasing operations and help ensure a consistent supply of materials from approved suppliers. This is a highly collaborative, tactical purchasing role focused on purchase order management, supplier communication, order tracking, and material availability support. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and comfortable working with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and ERP systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders based on system demands, requisitions, and planner requirements. Confirm supplier receipt of purchase orders and obtain order acknowledgments. Monitor and follow up on open purchase orders, delivery schedules, and past-due materials. Update purchase order information, including dates, quantities, pricing, and delivery details within the ERP system. Expedite materials as necessary to support production, inventory, and customer requirements. Communicate material availability, supplier updates, and delivery risks to planning, operations, customer service, and purchasing teams. Assist in resolving invoice discrepancies involving pricing, quantities, receipts, and purchase orders. Partner with Receiving, Accounts Payable, Planning, and Suppliers to resolve transactional issues. Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier correspondence, and order documentation. Support shortage reviews, open-order reporting, and routine purchasing activities. Escalate supplier performance concerns, supply constraints, contractual issues, and pricing challenges to purchasing leadership as needed. Interview Process ?
