We are one of the largest companies in the industry, with more than 750,000 square feet of manufacturing space across Texas, South Carolina, and Utah.Job Summary :
The Junior Buyer supports the day-to-day purchasing and procurement activities of ACS Manufacturing's Utah facility. This position assists with obtaining supplier quotes, preparing and tracking purchase orders, monitoring deliveries, maintaining accurate purchasing records, and communicating with vendors and internal departments. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires strong communication, follow-through, and problem-solving skills to help ensure materials, supplies, and services are available when needed to support production and business operations.Job Responsibilities/Duties :
- Assist with preparing, processing, issuing, and tracking purchase orders.
- Obtain and document supplier pricing, product availability, and lead-time information.
- Communicate professionally with suppliers regarding quotes, orders, pricing, shipping information, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor open purchase orders and follow up on delayed, incomplete, incorrect, or damaged shipments.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, pricing, and inventory records.
- Compare supplier pricing, terms, lead times, and service levels to support purchasing decisions.
- Assist with identifying cost-saving opportunities and potential alternative suppliers or products.
- Review purchase orders, invoices, packing slips, and receiving documentation for accuracy and consistency.
- Research and help resolve pricing, quantity, delivery, invoice, and receiving discrepancies.
- Coordinate with Receiving, Warehouse, Inventory, Accounting, Production, Engineering, and other departments as needed.
- Enter, maintain, and update purchasing information within the company's ERP system and other business systems.
- Assist with monitoring inventory levels and communicate potential shortages, delays, or purchasing needs.
- Maintain organized and current supplier records, including contact information, quotes, pricing, lead times, and product information.
- Communicate material availability and purchasing concerns to the Materials Manager and other appropriate team members.
- Escalate significant supplier, pricing, quality, or delivery concerns when necessary.
- Support the Materials Manager and procurement team with reports, administrative responsibilities, and special projects.
- Follow company purchasing policies, approval requirements, internal controls, and documentation procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling supplier, pricing, financial, and company information.
- Travel locally to supplier locations to pick up or retrieve materials when needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Technical Experience:
- Basic understanding of purchasing, procurement, inventory control, supply chain, or manufacturing processes preferred.
- Experience preparing or processing purchase orders preferred.
- Experience communicating with suppliers and obtaining quotes preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP, inventory management, purchasing, or accounting software preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to enter, review, and maintain information accurately within electronic systems.
- Ability to compare pricing, quantities, lead times, and other purchasing information.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on open items.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other departments.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and exercise appropriate discretion with confidential information.
Minimum Requirements/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control, warehouse operations, administrative support, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with company requirements.
- Must be authorized and able to operate a company vehicle when required.
- Must demonstrate attention to detail, reliability, professionalism, and effective follow-through.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with suppliers, coworkers, supervisors, and other departments.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities and production needs may change.
Required Education:
An associate degree or coursework in supply chain management, business administration, purchasing, logistics, accounting, or a related field is preferred but not required.Physical Working Conditions:
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment, with periodic work in warehouse and manufacturing areas.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, communicate, and use a computer for extended periods.
- Frequently required to use hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment and handle documents.
- Occasionally required to bend, reach, stoop, organize materials, and handle product samples.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 35 pounds.
- May be exposed to noise, moving equipment, temperature changes, dust, and other conditions commonly present in warehouse and manufacturing environments.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment when entering designated warehouse or production areas.
- Local travel to supplier locations may be required.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
