Job Description

Surgical Scheduler Private Ophthalmology Practice Overview Join our surgical scheduling team in a fast-paced, professional ophthalmology practice. We are seeking a Surgical Scheduler who brings a blend of technical precision and a warm, patient-centered approach. In this role, you will work alongside our clinical staff to coordinate surgical procedures, manage patient documentation, and ensure a seamless experience from consultation to recovery.
Responsibilities Surgical Coordination:
Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures in accordance with physician orders, patient needs, and facility availability.
Systems & Documentation:
Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and utilize healthcare software platforms for surgical scheduling and clinical documentation; requires strong general computer literacy and the ability to navigate digital tools effectively.
Insurance & Clearances:
Verify insurance coverage and perform necessary authorizations, pre-certifications, and Medicare/HIPAA compliance checks.
Patient Communication:
Act as a professional point of contact for patients regarding appointment details, pre-operative instructions, and post-operative care.
Clinical Support:
Manage prescription refill requests and clinical inquiries to ensure timely communication between the pharmacy, physician, and patient.
Practice Flow:
Assist the team with multi-line phones and administrative tasks as needed to maintain high standards of patient care.
Qualifications Proven Experience:
Previous experience as a Surgical Scheduler in a clinical or hospital setting preferred (Ophthalmology experience is a significant plus).
Technical Proficiency:
Knowledge of EMR systems (Epic experience is preferred); ability to learn and navigate multiple software platforms.
Professional Communication:
Exceptional phone etiquette and the ability to explain medical terminology with warmth and clarity.
Organizational Skills:
High level of accuracy in reviewing medical documentation, CPT/ICD coding, and insurance verification.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$21.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
