Job Description
Scheduler Special Procedure- TGH Surgery Center at Morsani - ( 260003ML ) Description A Brief Overview Under general supervision of the Ambulatory Surgery Center leadership, follows established policies and procedures, gathers and records all necessary information in the process of scheduling a case at an ambulatory surgery center. Possesses excellent knowledge and understanding of ICD10 and CPT codes. Responsible for reviewing and analyzing orders to accurately complete cases and appointments within multiple applications within EPIC. Responsible for obtaining and verifying demographic, confidential clinical and financial information necessary to accurately and efficiently schedule all surgical and procedural services and associated preadmission appointments. Pre-registers patient, verifies insurance eligibility and benefits, identifies those services that require an insurance authorization, notification and/or Precert. Recognizes and adheres to all CMS, AAAHC, and HIPAA requirements when creating a center account. Works directly with doctors, nurses, medical staff, patients, ancillary departments, insurance carriers and other external professionals to assist patients with obtaining health care and financial services. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of TGH. What you will do Schedule surgical and procedural cases accurately within Epic and associated systems, ensuring alignment with physician orders and facility protocols. Review and validate provider orders for completeness, accuracy, appropriate
CPT/ICD-10
coding, and procedural requirements prior to scheduling Obtain and verify patient demographic, clinical, and insurance information to ensure accurate registration and scheduling Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and determine authorization or precertification requirements prior to scheduling procedures. Coordinate and obtain required authorizations, notifications, and precertifications in accordance with payer and regulatory guidelines. Pre-register patients and ensure all required documentation is completed to support seamless day-of-service operations. Communicate scheduling details, preparation instructions, and expectations clearly to patients, physician offices, and clinical staff Collaborate with physicians, nurses, ancillary departments, and external partners to coordinate scheduling logistics and resolve issues. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all scheduling activities, communications, and updates within Epic. Ensure compliance with CMS, AAAHC, HIPAA, and organizational policies when handling patient information and scheduling procedures. Qualifications Licenses and Certifications Medical Terminology Experience Qualifications 2 years of experience in scheduling, registration, and or insurance verification. Skills and Abilities Strong understanding of healthcare scheduling workflows, including surgical/procedural scheduling, registration, and patient access operations Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding to accurately review, interpret, and validate provider orders and ensure correct case scheduling Proficiency in Epic and related systems for scheduling, documentation, insurance verification, and work queue management. Understanding of insurance eligibility, benefits, authorization, notification, and precertification processes to ensure financial clearance Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in patient demographics, orders, scheduling data, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary teams while delivering a high level of customer service in a fast-paced environmentPrimary Location :
