Position Summary The primary objective of this role is to coordinate outpatient diagnostic tests in collaboration with physician offices, patients, and hospital staff. This role plays a vital part in coordinating patient appointments across multiple departments while delivering excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is organized, communicative, and enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Schedule outpatient appointments, procedures, and diagnostic tests according to patient needs and provider availability. Coordinate with patients to gather necessary information for scheduling, including insurance details, medical history, and preferred appointment times. Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and clinical staff to ensure seamless coordination of patient schedules. Utilize scheduling software and electronic medical records systems to input and manage appointment information accurately. Confirm appointments with patients and provide necessary instructions, including pre-appointment preparations and arrival information. Knowledge of procedures that require pre-certification Assist patients with scheduling changes, cancellations, and rescheduling as needed, while maintaining flexibility to accommodate urgent requests. Collaborate with other departments, such as billing and insurance, to verify coverage and obtain authorizations for scheduled procedures Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations in all communications and interactions Provide excellent customer service to patients, addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly and professionally Attendance/Timeliness—Is on time for appointments, procedures, and work; meets attendance guidelines established by the Human Resources Department Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Previous experience in a healthcare facility or doctor's office preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
