Job Description

SUMMARY:
The Imaging Referrals Scheduler is responsible for the precertification and scheduling of Imaging exams and coordinating care with outside facilities as necessary. The position serves as a resource to all Imaging modalities and sites.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Receives requests for imaging exams and acquire pre-certification if needed. Obtains pertinent medical history/medical necessity and compiles for Radiologist protocol review. Ensures orders are correct and appropriately communicate when a Radiologist recommends order changes to clinical teams. Maintains knowledge of patient prep instructions based on Imaging modality and exam ordered. Provide patients and family members with appropriate education and instruction. Screens patients for contraindications. Schedules patients. Coordinates Imaging appointments for patients outside of InterMed when necessary and performs follow-up to ensure these exams are scheduled and completed. Answers/triages incoming calls. Requests outside records when needed. Understands/utilizes all electronic and computer systems including basic trouble shooting. Participates in the onboarding of new team members. Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies. Perform other duties to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
Prior medical office experience preferred Experience with EMR strongly preferred Demonstrated proficiency with Windows-based computer applications and the ability to efficiently type and navigate systems while conversing with patients or family members.
