Job Description Women's Health of Central Virginia, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time surgery scheduler to join our team! POSITION SUMMARY
The surgical schedulers work closely with the physicians, patients and other employees, staff of Centra Health and The Surgery Center of Lynchburg. This position is responsible for scheduling preoperative testing, surgeries, procedures, referrals and preop/post op appointments with the physicians. This position is also responsible for working with insurance companies to obtain insurance authorizations and coordinating between physicians, patients and hospital staff to ensure all requirements have been met. Multi-system scheduling requires exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Essential Functions Statement(s) Review and process all surgery orders View records and follow specific instructions for scheduling surgery, if applicable. Schedule surgery or referral Create and maintain documentation of surgery or procedure scheduled Update and manage surgery scheduling worksheet Notify patients of their upcoming surgery; provide detailed instructions via phone, email and/or postal service, as necessary Send internal office messages to provider and/or nurse seeking approval for appointment date/time Schedule pre-op and post op appts Create and manage notes in AMD PM system and Clearwave of patient responsibility to be paid at pre-op Notate insurance authorization details and fax to SCL email or call to PreReg department at hospital Rearrange schedule to suit the needs of the physician and hospital, which includes communicating with hospital, physicians, and patients. Correct information in AMD PM, EHR, Google Calendar; send updated information to the patients.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
High School Diploma, or equivalent.
Experience:
2-3 years customer service experience, required. Scheduling experience in a medical practice highly preferred. Knowledge of insurance company authorizations highly preferred.
Computer Skills:
Ability to efficiently operate computers. Comfortable with Microsoft Office.
