Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for supporting the accurate and efficient movement of materials, components, and finished goods throughout the facility. This position performs daily shipping and receiving activities, including loading and unloading trucks, verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, preparing materials for shipment, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring materials are properly identified and stored. The Shipping & Receiving Associate works closely with Production, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, and other departments to ensure materials are available when needed and customer shipments are completed accurately and on schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive incoming materials, components, supplies, and other deliveries. Load and unload trucks safely using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment. Verify incoming shipments against packing slips, purchase orders, and other documentation to confirm quantities and identify discrepancies. Inspect incoming materials and packaging for visible damage and report discrepancies or concerns to the appropriate department. Properly label, identify, and store received materials in designated locations. Prepare finished goods, components, and other materials for outgoing shipments. Verify outgoing shipments for correct quantities, products, packaging, and documentation. Package, wrap, band, palletize, and otherwise secure materials for safe transportation. Prepare bills of lading, packing slips, shipping labels, and other required shipping documentation. Coordinate with carriers and internal departments regarding pickups, deliveries, and shipping requirements. Move raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods throughout the facility as required. Maintain accurate inventory locations and assist with cycle counts and physical inventory activities. Assist in investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies. Maintain organized and clearly identified shipping, receiving, and material storage areas. Follow FIFO or other established inventory-control practices when applicable. Ensure materials are handled in a manner that prevents damage or loss. Communicate material shortages, damaged goods, shipment discrepancies, and other concerns promptly. Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials and transactions. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and established material-handling practices. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with company housekeeping standards. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on operational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, material-handling, or manufacturing experience preferred. Experience working in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment is a plus. Previous forklift experience preferred; must be willing and able to complete company-required forklift training and certification. Ability to read and understand packing slips, purchase orders, bills of lading, shipping documents, and inventory information. Basic computer skills and ability to learn company ERP, inventory, and shipping systems. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
