Shipping Specialist 9am-5pm Monday through Friday shift. Position Summary Shipping Associates are responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of goods in the shipping area. This includes truck loading, pallet movement, staging, and maintaining overall organization on the dock. Shipping Associates play a vital role in ensuring shipping accuracy, upholding food safety and allergen control standards, and contributing to a clean, team-driven warehouse environment. Key Responsibilities Receiving and Unloading Inspect all inbound trailers for damage, temperature requirements, contamination or signs of tampering Verify all product arriving at Against the Grain is compliant using the Raw Material Spec Guide and Approved Supplier list Properly label all individual pallets and put away according to the supervisor's storage plans Truck Loading & Staging Load finished goods onto outbound trucks, following load diagrams and instructions. Stage pallets accurately by route or order based on the daily shipping schedule. Verify pallet counts, tags, customer specific labels, and documentation prior to loading. Equipment Operation Safely operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment. Complete daily equipment inspections and report any issues immediately. Use RF scanners or shipping paperwork to track and confirm product movement (as applicable). Cleanliness & Team-Based Dock Maintenance Work as a team to maintain a clean, organized, and safe dock environment throughout each shift. Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, removing debris, disposing of trash and pallet wrap, and sanitizing surfaces in accordance with allergen control and food safety procedures. Participate in scheduled deep-cleaning activities and ensure dock areas remain hazard-free and inspection-ready. Shipping Accuracy & Process Excellence Consistently build pallets and stage product according to shipping plan and product integrity standards. Ensure that loads are accurate and completed within target timeframes to meet delivery schedules. Adhere to documentation and verification procedures that support shipment traceability and accuracy. Contribute to the continuous improvement of shipping processes by reporting inefficiencies or opportunities for enhancement. Tracking & Documentation Maintain accurate and up-to-date tracking sheets, including load logs, staging reports, cleaning checklists, and inventory movement forms. Ensure documentation is completed in real time and turned in or filed according to shipping department protocols. Assist with reconciling any shipping discrepancies in coordination with the Shipping Lead. Compliance & Safety Always wear required PPE and follow safety protocols. Comply with allergen separation and gluten-free product handling procedures. Report any damaged product, safety hazards, or policy violations immediately to the Shipping Lead/Manager. Follow guidelines for good manufacturing practices Stock Items for production in line with GMP and inventory control instructions Qualifications Experience in a warehouse, shipping, or loading role preferred. Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently and stand or walk for extended periods. Comfortable working in refrigerated/ frozen, dry, or variable temperature environments. Strong attention to detail and a willingness to follow standard procedures. Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Forklift certification is a plus, or must be willing to obtain certification through training.
