Job Description

Overview We are seeking an experienced and strategic Assistant Warehouse Manager to oversee all aspects of warehouse operations within our supply chain network. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of warehouse management systems, and a proven track record in process improvement and operations management. This role is critical in ensuring efficient inventory control, transportation coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives that align with company goals. The Assistant Warehouse Manager will lead a team of supervisors and staff to optimize warehouse distribution, freight handling, and procurement processes, contributing to overall supply chain excellence. Responsibilities Manage daily warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and order fulfillment. Oversee transportation planning and fleet management to ensure timely delivery and pickup schedules. Utilize ERP systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and AS400 to monitor inventory levels, process transactions, and generate operational reports. Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean principles and continuous improvement strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Supervise warehouse staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and ensuring adherence to safety standards. Coordinate with 3PL providers, NVOCCs, freight carriers, and procurement teams to streamline logistics and materials management. Develop and manage budgets related to warehouse operations while maintaining cost control measures. Implement demand planning, production planning, and supply chain analytics to forecast needs accurately. Ensure compliance with transportation management regulations and optimize transportation management systems for maximum efficiency. Oversee shipping & receiving activities, including freight handling, dispatching, and order fulfillment processes. Monitor inventory control procedures to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize discrepancies. Drive continuous improvement projects focused on process optimization within warehouse distribution functions. Skills Proven experience in warehouse supervision or operations management within a logistics or supply chain environment. Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles including inventory management, procurement, demand planning, and production planning. Expertise in transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, WMS (Warehouse Management System), AS400, and supply chain analytics tools. Familiarity with Lean methodologies and process improvement techniques to enhance operational efficiency. Experience managing freight logistics, shipping & receiving processes, fleet management, and dispatching. Ability to lead cross-functional teams with supervising experience in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational skills with a focus on inventory control, materials management, purchasing, procurement, and warehouse distribution. Proficiency in forklift operation is preferred; familiarity with transportation planning tools such as 3PLs or NVOCCs is advantageous. Strong analytical skills for supply chain analytics and budget management. Exceptional communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external partners.
