We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and customer-focused operation of a large distribution center. This position is responsible for daily warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, employee performance, customer service, labor planning, safety, and continuous improvement. The Warehouse Manager will lead supervisors, team leads, inventory personnel, equipment operators, and warehouse associates while ensuring customer requirements and operational goals are consistently met. Key ResponsibilitiesWarehouse Operations Direct daily receiving, unloading, inspection, putaway, replenishment, picking, packing, staging, loading, and shipping operations. Develop daily operating plans based on incoming freight, customer orders, staffing, equipment, and business priorities. Manage warehouse space, product locations, slotting, inventory flow, and overall facility organization. Ensure orders and receipts are processed accurately and within customer deadlines. Oversee returns, rework, special projects, and customer-specific handling requirements. Develop contingency plans for volume increases, equipment issues, system interruptions, severe weather, and other operational challenges. Team Leadership Lead, coach, train, schedule, and develop warehouse supervisors, team leads, equipment operators, and associates. Establish expectations for safety, productivity, quality, attendance, housekeeping, and customer service. Conduct daily start-up meetings, safety meetings, performance reviews, and coaching sessions. Maintain cross-training programs and succession plans for key warehouse positions. Promote teamwork, accountability, professional communication, and employee engagement. Address performance and attendance issues consistently and according to company policy. Customer & Account Management Maintain strong relationships with customers and ensure contractual requirements and service-level expectations are met. Understand customer SOPs, special handling requirements, billing procedures, and operational expectations. Investigate inventory discrepancies, damages, shortages, mis-shipments, late orders, and customer complaints. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions. Participate in customer meetings, audits, new account implementations, and operational reviews. Work closely with transportation, customer service, finance, sales, and IT teams to resolve issues. Inventory & Warehouse Systems Maintain accurate inventory through proper receiving, labeling, location control, cycle counting, physical inventories, and reconciliation. Investigate inventory variances and identify root causes. Ensure accurate use of WMS, RF scanners, customer portals, EDI, and operational reporting systems. Maintain accurate product information, units of measure, lot numbers, serial numbers, expiration dates, and inventory status. Support WMS implementations, system testing, process improvements, and employee training. Safety, Quality & Compliance Enforce company safety policies, PPE requirements, forklift/powered industrial truck procedures, and applicable regulations. Conduct safety inspections, observations, incident investigations, and corrective-action follow-up. Ensure equipment inspections and maintenance records are properly maintained. Maintain emergency procedures, security standards, housekeeping, and sanitation requirements. Ensure customer-specific quality standards and inventory-control procedures are followed. Support customer, regulatory, insurance, and third-party audits. Labor & Financial Management Develop staffing plans and schedules based on workload and forecasted volume. Monitor overtime and labor costs while maintaining required service levels. Manage controllable operating expenses, supplies, equipment usage, and outside services. Review operational documentation to support accurate customer billing. Monitor warehouse performance and provide action plans to senior leadership. Identify opportunities to reduce waste, labor costs, errors, travel time, and processing time. Key Performance Metrics The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for monitoring and improving: Safety incidents and near-miss closure Inventory accuracy Cycle-count completion Receiving accuracy and dock-to-stock time Order and picking accuracy On-time and complete shipments Damage, shortage, and mis-shipment rates Labor productivity and overtime Cost per unit Trailer turn and dwell time Warehouse space utilization Customer complaints and corrective actions Employee attendance, turnover, training, and engagement Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or related field preferred. 7+ years of progressive warehouse or distribution experience. 3+ years of experience leading warehouse supervisors or management-level employees. Experience managing a large, multi-shift distribution or warehouse operation. Third-party logistics (3PL), contract warehousing, or multi-client distribution experience preferred. Strong knowledge of receiving, shipping, inventory control, order fulfillment, labor planning, and warehouse safety. Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, Microsoft Excel, email, and operational reporting tools. Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Experience with budgeting, productivity tracking, audits, and continuous improvement. The Warehouse Manager must be able to walk and stand for extended periods, use stairs, communicate effectively in an active warehouse environment, and wear required PPE.
