Job Description

Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Elmira College was the first college to offer a comprehensive curriculum for women, and is home of the Center for Mark Twain Studies. We are seeking a Postal Supervisor to join the Finance and Administration team. The Postal Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining Elmira College's post office by performing any combination of tasks in a post office, such as receive letters and parcels; sell postage and revenue stamps, postal cards, and stamped envelopes; fill out and sell money orders; place mail in pigeon holes of mail rack or in bags; and examine mail for correct postage. The Postal Supervisor will also supervise and train student workers that assist with the operations of the post office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Sort and distribute mail and packages to students' and departments' mail boxes; Weigh letters and packages, and affix the correct postage; Keep money drawers in order and balance daily transactions; Register and certify letters and packages; Sell and collect payment for stamps, mail envelopes and money orders; Complete change of address forms, loss of mail forms, and special services; Supervise and train student employees who assist in post office operations.
QUALIFICATIONS A
high school diploma or GED Ability to lift 50+ lbs. Ability to effectively communicate with employees, students and carriers. Strong organizational skills and schedule driven

COMPENSATION
$17 - $18 per hour This position is benefit eligible.
