Job Overview We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Transportation Manager to lead our logistics operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of transportation planning, such as, hiring and coordinating all inbound and outbound transportation, scheduling delivery appointments for outbound freight, communicating with brokers, drivers, and internal staff to achieve on-time deliveries. The ideal candidate will possess strong managerial skills, excellent communication, organizational skills, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be dependable, professional, and able to effectively manage multiple tasks. Responsibilities Oversee transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms to streamline operations. Lead and supervise logistics teams, including warehouse supervisors and distribution personnel, fostering a collaborative environment focused on operational excellence. Manage freight procurement, including negotiations with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and non-vessel operating common carriers (NVOCC), ensuring optimal service levels. Coordinate demand planning, production scheduling, and inventory control to meet customer expectations while maintaining budget targets. Implement process improvements utilizing Lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices to enhance workflow efficiency across all distribution operations. Monitor key performance indicators related to transportation management, inventory accuracy, shipping & receiving, and overall supply chain performance to identify areas for enhancement. Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies across all logistics activities. Experience Proven managerial experience in transportation management or logistics operations within a fast-paced environment. Extensive knowledge of supply chain management principles, including distribution management, procurement, order fulfillment, and materials management. Hands-on experience with transportation planning tools, TMS software, WMS platforms, ERP systems such as AS400 or similar systems. Demonstrated success supervising teams within warehouse or distribution settings with a focus on process management and operational excellence. Strong understanding of freight shipping & receiving procedures, inventory management techniques, and warehouse operations. Familiarity with 3PL providers, NVOCC operations, demand planning processes, and production scheduling is highly desirable.
