SCOPE OF POSITION

Under the supervision of the Active Aging & Wellness Coordinator, the Active Aging Driver provides safe, courteous, and reliable transportation for participants enrolled in District Active Aging programs and excursions. This position transports groups of older adults in a District-owned 14-passenger bus to destinations throughout Northern Colorado and surrounding regions while ensuring participant safety, comfort, and exceptional customer service. The Active Aging Driver serves as a positive ambassador for the District and assists with participant needs during local day trips, special events, overnight excursions, and occasional extended travel opportunities, including potential international trips.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safely transport Active Aging participants using a District-owned vehicle. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly. Ensure all passengers board, ride, and exit the vehicle safely. Assist participants with mobility devices, walkers, and loading or unloading personal belongings as needed. Maintain accurate passenger rosters, mileage logs, inspection reports, and incident documentation. Follow all federal, state, local, and District transportation policies and safety procedures. Navigate routes throughout Northern Colorado and surrounding areas while maintaining punctuality. Communicate effectively with the Active Aging & Wellness Coordinator regarding trip logistics, delays, emergencies, or participant concerns. Always represent the District in a professional and courteous manner. Provide outstanding customer service while fostering a welcoming, friendly, and inclusive environment. Assist with participant check-in, attendance, and coordination during excursions as requested. Support participants during day trips, overnight travel, and occasional extended travel opportunities. Work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, vendors, tour operators, and community partners. Remain calm and exercise sound judgment during emergency and non-emergency situations. Administer first aid or CPR when appropriately certified and complete required incident reports. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure supplies are stocked for scheduled trips. Perform other duties as assigned to support Active Aging programming.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED Must be at least 21 years of age

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to obtain CPR, AED, First Aid, and Blood Born Pathogen certifications within 3 months of hire. Previous experience driving passenger vans, buses, shuttle vehicles, or similar transportation preferred. Experience working with older adults, customer service, recreation, tourism, or hospitality is preferred.

Ability to respond calmly during emergencies. Ability to establish positive working relationships with participants, staff, volunteers, and community partners. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to follow directions, schedules, and travel itineraries. Ability to maintain accurate records and reports. Willingness to travel overnight and participate in occasional multi-day or international trips. Ability to adapt to changing schedules and participant needs.

Pay:
