Job Description

LBA Delivery Services is an independent contracted service provider supporting FedEx final-mile delivery operations. We are seeking a motivated Business Contact/Operations Manager to help lead day-to-day operations at our Syracuse location. This role oversees dispatch, driver performance, route execution, fleet coordination, service results, and communication between drivers, terminal personnel, and company leadership. This is a hands-on operations role. The right person is comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment, leading from the front, solving problems as they happen, and stepping in to drive a delivery route when business needs require it. Prior FedEx or delivery-management experience is helpful, but we are equally interested in individuals who are motivated, dependable, value hard work, want opportunities for growth, and have the ability to lead people effectively. Key Responsibilities Plan, assign, and adjust daily delivery and pickup routes based on volume, staffing, route capacity, and service needs, including building next-day dispatch plans. Lead daily dispatch and route launch activities while ensuring proper route coverage and supporting on-time service execution. Manage and support drivers throughout the day, including attendance, route assignments, performance coaching, issue resolution, and operational communication. Monitor on-road performance using GPS, scanner data, FedEx systems, and other available operational tools; respond quickly to service risks or developing route issues. Serve as a primary point of contact for drivers who need assistance, route support, service recovery, or direction during the workday. Support staffing decisions and route coverage, including stepping in to operate a delivery route when required by business needs. Oversee day-to-day fleet readiness by reviewing DVIR-related concerns, coordinating vehicle availability, scheduling maintenance, and communicating repair priorities. Ensure drivers are completing required vehicle inspections and that vehicles being placed into service are safe and operationally ready. Coordinate breakdown response, replacement vehicle needs, emergency route coverage, and other time-sensitive operational issues. Communicate proactively with FedEx terminal personnel and company leadership regarding service performance, delays, staffing concerns, safety issues, and operational needs. Help maintain compliance with applicable DOT requirements, FedEx contractor operating standards, safety expectations, and company policies. Review and use operational KPIs such as service performance, driver productivity, route efficiency, safety, and staffing to identify problems and improve execution. Coach and develop drivers and support team members while reinforcing accountability, teamwork, safety, and consistent operating standards. Qualifications Leadership ability, personal accountability, strong work ethic, and the motivation to grow within a fast-paced operation. Strong communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities at once and remain composed when routes, staffing, vehicles, or service conditions change quickly. Prior experience in dispatch, logistics, transportation, delivery operations, route management, or team leadership is preferred but not required. FedEx contractor, Amazon DSP, UPS, last-mile delivery, or similar operational experience is a plus but not required. Comfort learning and using route-planning tools, GPS systems, operational reporting platforms, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and related business systems. Valid driver's license and willingness/ability to operate a delivery route when business needs require coverage. Ability to work within first- and second-shift operating hours and adjust schedule as business needs require, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary. Increased hours during peak season (Nov-Jan). Key Competencies Team leadership and coaching Routing, dispatch, and operational decision-making Fleet coordination and service recovery Conflict resolution and communication Time management and scheduling Attention to detail and data accuracy Ownership mentality and willingness to work alongside the team Work Environment On-site position at 7020 Van Buren Rd, Syracuse, NY 13209, with work performed in and around an active final-mile delivery operation.
