Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as an After-School Daycare Driver and make a meaningful difference in children's lives while ensuring their safety and well-being during transportation. This energetic role combines responsible driving with compassionate behavior management, providing a vital service that helps families and supports children's development. You will be responsible for safely transporting students from elementary school to our after-school program, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations, and creating a positive, nurturing environment on the road. Responsibilities Safely operate a school passenger vehicle, following all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations. Transport children from school to designated after-school care location, ensuring timely arrivals and departures. Assist children with wheelchair assistance and other mobility needs, ensuring comfort and safety during transit. Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, signals, and emergency stop procedures. Maintain clear communication with parents, school staff, and program coordinators regarding transportation schedules or delays. Enforce student discipline policies with positive behavior management techniques to promote a respectful environment. Respond promptly to traffic changes or emergencies using defensive driving skills and emergency response procedures for transportation. Ensure proper documentation of trips, incidents, and vehicle maintenance logs in accordance with company policies. Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions or concerns from parents and guardians professionally and courteously. Perform heavy lifting when necessary for vehicle maintenance supplies or mobility equipment handling. Qualifications Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience in delivery, bus driving, school bus driving, transit bus operation or commercial driving preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and state/local commercial driving laws. Experience working with children or in educational settings; familiarity with student discipline and behavior management is a plus. Certification in first aid and CPR; knowledge of emergency response procedures for transportation is preferred and/or required to attain Ability to communicate effectively in English; multilingual skills are an advantage for diverse communities. Strong communication skills to coordinate with parents, school staff, and team members. Knowledge of wheelchair assistance procedures and transportation safety regulations for passengers with disabilities. Demonstrated responsibility in following school policy guidelines and transportation safety protocols.
