Job Description

Road Maintenance Worker / Equipment Operator Leacock Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Leacock Township is seeking a dependable, motivated individual to join our Public Works team as a Road Maintenance Worker / Equipment Operator . This is a full-time, year-round position responsible for maintaining Township roads, rights-of-way, stormwater infrastructure, and other municipal facilities. The successful candidate will operate a variety of trucks, heavy equipment, and other machinery while working both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities Operate dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, excavators, mowers, tractors, and other Township equipment Perform roadway maintenance, including pothole repair, patching, grading, shoulder maintenance, and drainage work Perform snow and ice removal operations, including plowing, salting, and de-icing Maintain and repair stormwater drainage systems, pipes, inlets, and roadside ditches Perform mowing, trimming, tree and brush removal, and other right-of-way maintenance Assist with road signage, traffic control, and roadway safety improvements Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on Township vehicles and equipment Assist with maintenance of Township buildings, grounds, parks, and other facilities Respond to emergency situations and weather-related events as needed Maintain a safe and clean work environment Perform other duties as assigned by the Township Manager or Public Works Supervisor Night and weekend work required during weather emergencies Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous experience in road maintenance, public works, construction, landscaping, or a related field preferred Experience operating heavy equipment strongly preferred Valid Pennsylvania driver's license required CDL Class B with appropriate endorsements preferred, or ability to obtain one Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, climbing, and working around heavy equipment Mechanical aptitude and basic equipment maintenance skills are a plus Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to respond to snow and other emergency events outside of normal working hours What We Offer Leacock Township offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including: Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience Defined benefit pension plan Optional 457 retirement plan Health insurance Life insurance Paid holidays Paid vacation and personal days Four day work week Join Our Team If you enjoy working outdoors, operating equipment, maintaining roads, and serving your community, we encourage you to apply.
