Job Description
Role and Responsibilities A DOT Driver operates a variety of equipment including; semi-tractor with trailer, dump truck, water truck, etc. While not all inclusive, the following is a list of tasks to be performed and or coordinated: 1. Consistent, punctual and reliable attendance. 2. Prepared and on time for scheduled shift with proper PPE. 3. Responsible for Daily Shift validations. 4. Must possess a valid Class A Driver License with air brakes and all Endorsements necessary to comply with DOT requirements for the equipment being operated. 5. Perform and fill out pre-trip vehicle inspection before leaving the yard, check all fluids/tires/lights/ and all signs as listed on pre-trip. 6. Perform monthly tool audits on equipment and ensure compliance (vehicle registration/ fire extinguisher). 7. Have appropriate license and certifications to operate the equipment being used. 8. Gather appropriate job permits and ensure they are filled out correctly with correct signatures. 9. Follow and/or complete the Detailed Daily Work Plan (DDWP) and ensure crew actively participates, knows and follows each procedure. 10. Perform a job walk to identify all potential hazards around working area (underground and overhead utilities) and take procedural actions to mitigate or eliminate if any found. 11. Responsible to load and unload material needed for each job. 12. Perform tasks assigned by PLW or Foreman such as operating equipment in a safe and efficient manner. 13. Participate in safe work, safety audits and near hits processes. 14. Test the job site for immediate respiratory dangers like H2S or oxygen deficient and know how to read a monitor. 15. Be actively involved in all safety processes. 16. Develop knowledge of KSI PPM-SOPs and refer to the SOP Manual prior to each task. 17. Follow all KS Industries, LLC and customer policies and procedures. 18. Follow all applicable Federal, State and local driving laws. 19. Shall perform all physical and mental requirements listed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to read and write in English Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions in English Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner. Knowledge of Lock Out/ Tag Out process Knowledge of hauling and towing capacity (GVWR) Knowledge of technology (iPads, cellphones etc.). Knowledge of binding equipment and loads Ability to demonstrate knowledge of industry specific safety standards Qualifications and Education Requirements Valid Class A CDL Preferably 2-3 years of industry experience along with knowledge of tools Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards
Pre-Employment Requirements:
All candidates must pass a pre employment physical examination, drug / alcohol screen, hold a valid driver's license, pass a motor vehicle record check and be insurable through KSI's insurance carrier, criminal background check and E-verify as a condition of successful consideration for employment. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work in harsh weather for long periods of time. Depending on the phase of the job, all personnel are required to work in conditions where physical demands can consist of placing one's body in various positions to inspect and to accomplish certain tasks such as: Sitting Standing Squatting Raising and Lowering objects from one level to another Carrying objects, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder Grasping objects with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold/and or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens etc,) Pulling ie. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking) Pushing ie. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force (includes slapping, striking, kicking and treadle actions) Bending at the waist, stooping, working in a supine position, twisting seated or standing Some of these physical requirements will range from seldom, frequent to constant depending on the task.Job Type:
