Civilian Process Server Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Valid Florida Driver's License (maintain throughout duration of employment.) Read road maps and follow written/oral instructions. Communication skills, both orally and in writing. Interact with the general public Knowledge of civil process procedure and paperwork preferred. Prior military or law enforcement experience preferred. Job Class Description The purpose of the class is to serve subpoenas, criminal summons and other non-enforceable legal documents in accordance with Florida Statutes and regulations of the Sheriff's Office. The class works under general supervision. Position Duties The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Operates Department vehicle Sorts, separates and organizes civil and/or criminal documents as they are received. Locates addresses of recipients, making necessary telephone calls to establish information. Serves the public subpoenas, criminal summons and other non-enforceable legal documents in area of responsibility. Returns undeliverable Writs to Department; checks with USPS for forwarding addresses for recipients who have moved. Performs routine office tasks such as data entry, telephoning, filing and photocopying. Prepares routine, recurring and special reports as required. Employer has attendance standards
Additional Information Hours & Schedule:
Work is generally completed during normal business hours, however, must be available to work extended workdays and hours to meet operational needs or in the event of an emergency. Schedule may involve occasional evenings, weekends or holidays.
