Job Description

Tono mai ki tētahi tūnga ki te Kaunihera o Ōtautahi As a Senior Project Manager, you'll work across a broad portfolio of Council-led initiatives - leading projects that span a wide variety of community, civic, and organisational outcomes (outside of core horizontal infrastructure such as Transport and Three Waters). These may involve short term agile initiatives or longer term, end to end strategic capital projects. The team is positioning itself as Council's go-to project management function with a solid baseline of capital delivery, but an increasing focus to Project Management as a service. About the role | Ko te mahi nei You'll lead the delivery of a diverse range of projects from initiation through to close-out, ensuring they are delivered within scope, time, and budget. You will provide end-to-end project management services across multiple areas of the organisation, with a sustained focus on delivering high-quality capital projects that create lasting value for the city. Working with consultants, contractors, stakeholders, and internal client groups, you'll drive successful outcomes while keeping key audiences informed and engaged. In this role, you will: Lead the end-to-end delivery of capital projects Manage scope, budget, programme, risk, and quality Build strong relationships across Council and with delivery partners Provide clear reporting and support governance decision-making Mentor and coach team members, building capability and sharing best practice About you | Ko Koe Tēnei You're an experienced and confident client-side Project Manager who thrives in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. You bring a collaborative approach, strong delivery focus, and a genuine passion for achieving outcomes that benefit communities. At least 10 years experience delivering complex capital projects or programmes in a client-side public service environment. Strong understanding of project management frameworks and governance principles
