Job Title:
Clinical Support Staff (MA/RMA/CMA/LPN)
Department:

RN Team Lead Job Summary:
The Sterling Area Health Center is looking for a Clinical Support Staff to provide high-quality patient care and support their medical team.
Responsibilities:
This position involves a combination of administrative and clinical duties.
Key responsibilities include:
General Office Duties:
Answering phones, greeting patients, verifying insurance information, and data entry into the patient information system.
Clinical Support:
Assisting healthcare providers with direct patient care in the outpatient setting. This involves being attentive to provider instructions, patient concerns, and questions, and following through with appropriate actions.
Documentation:
Preparing charts, completing forms and logs, and accurately documenting patient education and instructions in the electronic health record (EHR) system. Maintaining a
Safe and Efficient Environment:
Ensuring treatment rooms are clean, restocking supplies, and autoclaving equipment as needed. Preparing Patients for
Care:
Checking patients in, preparing exam rooms, obtaining patient history, and taking vital signs, performing EKGs, PFTs, immunizations, and vision & hearing tests. They also perform pediatric development screening tests.
Anticipating Provider Needs:
Proactively identifying and addressing the requirements of the healthcare provider.
Managing Referrals, Lab Orders, and Prescriptions:
Completing necessary forms, obtaining prior authorization for treatment, and handling billing information and appointment scheduling.
Patient Flow Management:
Optimizing the patient experience and schedule for the assigned provider.
CLIA Waived Testing:
Performing and following up on CLIA waived testing according to manufacturer guidelines.
Other Duties:
Performing other assigned duties as needed, including front desk tasks.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Successful candidates for the Clinical Support Staff position should possess the following skills and abilities:
Clinical Knowledge:
Understanding of moderately complex clinical procedures.
Computer Proficiency:
Competency in using computer systems and software.
Communication Skills:
Effective written and oral communication, including explaining complex information clearly to patients and other healthcare professionals.
HIPAA Compliance:
Demonstrating strict adherence to HIPAA confidentiality and privacy regulations both during and outside of work.
Interpersonal Skills:
Customer-focused approach to interacting effectively with diverse patient populations and their families.
Critical Thinking:
Managing clinical issues and utilizing assessment skills protocols effectively.
Adaptability:
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment.
Assessment and Triage:
Excellent skills in assessing and prioritizing patient needs.
Teamwork and Independence:
Working collaboratively as part of a team-based healthcare organization, while also demonstrating the ability to work independently and be accountable for practice.
Organizational Skills:
Managing time effectively, practicing active listening, problem-solving, setting priorities, and organizing work efficiently.
Note:
Certified/Registered Medical Assistants (CMAs/RMAs) or those with similar skills and experience (CNAs) are highly encouraged to apply. Paid training programs for Certified Medical Assistants (or other similar certification programs) may also be available (2-year commitment after completed certification).
