Job Description:
Multi-billion dollar diversified engineering manufacturing company has an immediate need for a Controller (Division VP of Finance) for a $150M business unit. Business specializes in complex large electromechanical systems supporting critical marine, defense, and industrial applications. This highly visible leadership role serves as the senior finance partner for a major manufacturing operation with significant long-cycle project business and government-related contract activity. Seeking hands-on accounting leader and strategic operational finance partner to site leadership (1 Direct report).
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary finance business partner to the General Manager and site leadership team
  • Lead all plant-level accounting and manufacturing finance activities
  • Oversee general accounting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Manage Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting activities for long-cycle manufacturing programs (enhancing maturity of how they do this)
  • Lead monthly POC journal entries, reconciliations, forecasting, and margin analysis
  • Drive automation and modernization of current POC accounting processes and reporting tools
  • Develop annual operating plans, forecasts, and capital budgets
  • Support operational performance improvement through financial analysis and KPI interpretation
  • Provide analysis around manufacturing costs, margins, labor efficiency, absorption, working capital, and cash flow
  • Support capital expenditure analysis and investment justification activities
  • Coordinate internal controls, SOX compliance, audit activities, and financial reporting requirements
  • Lead month-end close activities and ensure accuracy/integrity of financial data
  • Partner closely with operations, engineering, supply chain, and executive leadership teams
  • Support customer and vendor contract review activities when needed
  • Help drive a culture of accountability, process improvement, and operational rigor across the business
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required
  • Manufacturing finance/accounting experience required
  • Strong cost accounting experience required
  • Experience with Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting
  • Experience supporting project-based or long-cycle manufacturing environments preferred
  • ERP system experience required
