True North Emergency Equipment is looking for a seasoned professional—ideally a fire apparatus technician, or fire equipment mechanic—who wants to stay close to the industry, lead a skilled team, and continue making a real impact without the demands of shift work. About Us True North Emergency Equipment supports fire departments across the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, providing service, parts, and equipment for emergency response vehicles. From rural volunteer halls to major municipal fleets, we help keep first responders ready when it matters most. Why This Role is a Great Fit This is not a desk-only management job. It's a leadership role for someone who: Understands the urgency of emergency response equipment Has lived the reality of equipment failure in critical moments Takes pride in keeping trucks operational and crews safe Enjoys mentoring the next generation of technicians The Role As Service Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day operations of our Service Department—guiding technicians, supporting customers, and ensuring every piece of equipment that leaves our shop is ready for service. Your experience won't just be valued—it will shape how we operate. What You'll Be Doing Lead and support a team of technicians with a hands-on, "lead from the floor" approach Oversee daily shop operations to ensure efficient, high-quality service Ensure fire apparatus and equipment are serviced, repaired, and returned to duty quickly and safely Work closely with customers—many of them firefighters—to build trusted relationships Review work orders, estimates, and timelines with a practical, experience-based lens Monitor productivity, workflow, and department performance Collaborate with parts and service staff to keep jobs moving without delays Maintain safety standards that reflect real-world operational risks Mentor and coach team members, sharing your knowledge and experience What You Bring Background as a firefighter, fire apparatus technician, or fire equipment mechanic strongly preferred 5+ years of experience working with fire apparatus or heavy emergency equipment Leadership or supervisory experience (formal or informal) Strong mechanical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills Clear communication style and a calm, decisive approach under pressure Understanding of the importance of reliability, safety, and accountability in emergency services Comfortable with basic computer systems (work orders, email, scheduling) Valid driver's license Schedule & Compensation Monday to Friday | 8:00 AM
