This position is the primary point of contact for many of our customers. Because our farm has built long-standing relationships with customers in the community, we are looking for someone who is friendly, patient, helpful, professional, and comfortable communicating with a wide range of people . Previous customer service experience is required. Applicants who do not have prior work experience involving direct customer service should not apply. Duties Greet customers in a friendly, professional, and helpful manner Assist customers with sod purchases, questions, and general product information Prepare and generate accurate customer invoices Calculate quantities, prices, totals, and other basic sales figures Accept and accurately document customer orders Maintain accurate records of sod sales and available inventory Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or discrepancies to management Answer customer questions patiently and clearly Maintain a professional attitude, including during busy periods or challenging customer interactions Load sod and assist customers with loading purchases into trucks or other vehicles Help keep the sales area, office, farm entrance, and surrounding grounds clean and organized Perform general housekeeping and light grounds-maintenance duties during slower periods Assist with other reasonable farm or customer-service duties as needed Qualifications Previous customer service experience is required U.S. resident (we do not offer relocation assistance) Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills Friendly, patient, courteous, and professional demeanor Ability to provide excellent service to both new and long-standing customers Comfortable speaking with customers in person and answering questions Ability to create invoices accurately and maintain organized records Good command of basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division Comfortable using a calculator and performing basic sales calculations Strong attention to detail when handling orders, invoices, and inventory Ability to stay productive and responsible during periods of downtime Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently when necessary Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds Comfortable assisting with loading sod into customer vehicles Must be at least 18 years old Must maintain a safe, professional, and drug-free work approach Reliable transportation is required. Applicants must be able to drive to the Waimānalo farm each morning for their scheduled shift Forklift experience is a plus, but not required References Applicants must provide professional references from previous employers, supervisors, or managers . We are particularly interested in speaking with references who can comment on the applicant's: Customer service skills Reliability and punctuality Professionalism Communication skills Ability to work independently Ability to interact appropriately with customers and coworkers Important Information About the Position The pace of work can vary considerably from day to day. Some periods may be very busy with customers and orders, while other days or portions of the day may include a significant amount of downtime. During slower periods, employees are expected to remain productive by maintaining the work area, checking inventory, completing housekeeping or grounds-maintenance tasks, organizing materials, and assisting with other farm duties as directed. The ideal candidate understands that excellent customer service means being consistently patient, approachable, and professional—even when a customer needs additional assistance or explanation.
