Job Description

Boone Drug and Healthcare at Deerfield is seeking an individual who is friendly, positive, and detailed oriented to fill a position as a Respiratory Assistant. This individual would assist our customers in the Respiratory Department. The ideal candidate would focus on customer service and have a strong desire to help others. The Individual would also be responsible for placing orders and restocking supplies, and gathering data information for billing and reconciliation.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1. Ability to work with others. 2. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with customers, client family members, and other staff members. Also, able to assist and coordinate services with outside health care related organizations or professionals. 3. Possesses good organizational and time-management skills. 4. Possesses the ability and initiative to plan for and complete daily activities with minimal direction. 5. Basic knowledge or familiarity with medical terminology. 6. Dependable in attendance and performance. 7. Must be physically able to lift equipment and supplies without difficulty. 8. Must have basic computer skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists in organizing placement and delivery of orders. 2. Maintains accurate paperwork such as Order Intake Forms, Return Slips, etc. 3.
Assists customers with healthcare needs:
  • counsel customers on equipment and indications
  • gives accurate and detailed operational instructions and demonstrations for specific equipment
  • coordinates with other healthcare organizations as appropriate for special patient needs
  • recites accurate billing and cost information
  • places special customer orders appropriately
  • answers telephone questions regarding healthcare needs
  • responsible for first contact to patient after receiving orders from physicians for equipment or services 4.
Completes special projects assigned by the Respiratory Manager. 5. Makes transactions using cash register. Correctly makes change, certifies checks, and/or uses credit card machine as indicated. 6. Attends training sessions on health care related issues as requested by Respiratory Manager. 7. Completed initial paperwork or supportive documentation requires on new patients to effectively perform billing and forwards to billing department in a timely manner. 8. Assists with maintaining patient referral log (per computer) and coordination of services related to patient admissions, discharges and changes in status.
