Job Description

Sandy Hook Yacht Sales is looking for an organized, customer-focused Marine Service Writer to join our growing service team at our Brick, NJ location. If you enjoy working with boat owners, coordinating with technicians, and keeping a busy service department running smoothly, we want to hear from you. About the
Role:
As a Service Writer, you'll be the primary point of contact between our customers and our service technicians. You'll manage the flow of work orders from intake through completion, keep customers informed on the status and cost of their repairs, and help ensure every boat that comes through our shop gets serviced efficiently and correctly.
What You'll Do:
Greet customers and open detailed, accurate work orders based on reported issues and service needs Communicate with customers throughout the repair process regarding estimates, approvals, timelines, and completed work Coordinate with technicians to schedule jobs, track progress, and prioritize the shop's workload Order parts as needed and follow up on parts status to avoid delays Prepare accurate invoices and review completed work orders for accuracy before closeout Maintain clear, up-to-date records in the service management system Handle customer questions and concerns professionally, escalating when appropriate Support the service department in maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction
What We're Looking For:
Strong communication and customer service skills Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple work orders and priorities at once Comfortable working with computers and service/scheduling software Marine, automotive, or powersports service writing/advisor experience is a plus, but not required — we're happy to train the right person Basic mechanical or technical understanding of boats and engines is helpful A team player who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment Valid driver's license
