Job Description

Veterinary Concierge / Client Relations Specialist Bark Ave Veterinary Urgent Care - Riverdale, NJ $16-$21 per hour, based on experience and skill set Full-Time | 3 Shifts Per Week | No Overnights Bark Ave is an independently owned veterinary urgent care hospital in Riverdale, NJ. We have created an experience that feels less like a traditional veterinary office and more like boutique hospitality: welcoming, calm, personal, and exceptionally attentive. We are looking for a Veterinary Concierge / Client Relations Specialist who genuinely enjoys people, builds relationships naturally, and understands that exceptional client service goes far beyond checking someone in at a front desk. One of the benefits of this position is our schedule: full-time hours are worked over just three shifts per week, with no overnight shifts. We want our team to have the opportunity to work full-time while still having four days each week outside of the hospital. This Is More Than a Receptionist Position Our concierge is often the first and last person a client interacts with and plays an important role in the entire Bark Ave experience. We are looking for someone who remembers clients and their pets, makes conversation, notices the small details, offers refreshments, anticipates needs, and makes people feel genuinely cared for. You should be social, warm, confident, emotionally intelligent, and comfortable developing relationships with our clients. At the same time, this is a hands-on position. You will not spend your entire shift sitting behind a desk. Responsibilities Greet clients and pets warmly and professionally Manage appointments, check-ins, phone calls, texts, emails, and client communications Communicate treatment estimates, invoices, payment options, and financing programs Assist with pet insurance documentation and medical records Work closely with the veterinarian and nursing team to maintain efficient patient flow Maintain accurate patient and client information in Vetspire Offer refreshments and help create a concierge-level experience Clean and reset exam rooms after appointments Clean up after patients, including urine, feces, vomit, fur, food, water, and other messes that naturally occur in a veterinary hospital Clean up after clients and maintain the lobby, bathrooms, refreshment area, front desk, and other client-facing spaces Restock and organize client and exam areas Assist the medical team and other departments when needed Maintaining a clean, beautiful hospital is a core responsibility of this position—not an occasional extra task. Everyone at Bark Ave contributes to keeping our hospital clean. The right person notices a dirty exam room, an overflowing trash can, a bathroom that needs attention, or a mess in the lobby and takes care of it without waiting to be asked. Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate is personable, outgoing, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable multitasking in a veterinary urgent care environment. You should genuinely enjoy talking with people and building relationships. We want someone who remembers that a client takes their coffee a certain way, asks how their other pet is doing, notices when someone seems overwhelmed, and looks for opportunities to make someone's experience better. Veterinary experience and familiarity with Vetspire are preferred. Experience with scheduling, billing, treatment estimates, CareCredit, Cherry, and pet insurance is a plus. Because we are a small, independently owned practice, flexibility is essential. We need someone who is willing to pivot, take initiative, cross-train, and help wherever needed. Schedule & Work-Life Balance This is a full-time position structured as three shifts per week. Candidates must have availability to work between 11 AM and 11 PM, Monday through Saturday. Weekend/Saturday availability is required. There are no overnight shifts. Our three-day full-time schedule provides four days off each week , making this a great opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in veterinary medicine while maintaining time for life outside of work. Compensation $16-$21 per hour , depending on veterinary experience, hospitality/client-service experience, and overall skill set. How to Apply — Cover Letter Required The cover letter is important to us because we want to make sure this role is a good fit for you—and that you're a good fit for Bark Ave. Please submit your resume and a cover letter explaining why you believe you would be a great fit for Bark Ave and specifically for a Veterinary Concierge role that is a step above a traditional veterinary receptionist position.
We would love to hear:
Why this particular position caught your attention Why you enjoy working with people and building relationships What exceptional hospitality means to you What experience or qualities you would bring to Bark Ave Why you are comfortable with the hands-on aspects of the position, including cleaning and resetting rooms and cleaning up after pets and their owners Applications submitted without a cover letter will not be considered. We aren't simply looking for someone to fill a front desk position. We're looking for someone who wants to become an important part of a growing, independently owned veterinary hospital and take ownership of the experience our clients have when they walk through our doors.
