Communications Attendant
Job Description
Hampton, Virginia Hiring Range $16.20 - $21.08/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs. Overview Reporting to the Communications Supervisor, the Communications Attendant is responsible for receiving visitors, answering and routing phone calls, placing work orders to maintain the operation of the phone system and computer equipment as needed, adhering to the department's policies and procedures and ensuring that the customer service standards are being upheld and executed with both internal and external customers. Other responsibilities include light typing, record keeping, sorting of incoming mail, and scanning of documents into the computer system. What you will do Maintains time and attendance record according to policy, arrives to work on time and is ready to perform duties at beginning of the scheduled shift. Attentive to calls and being available to handle the calls so as to achieve highest possible customer satisfaction. Produces quality work as demonstrated by compliance with existing standards. Has knowledge of policies and process flows regarding communicating with our customers / physicians / staff paging and contact information. Collaborates with physicians and staff to provide accurate on-call and contact information. Proficiently handles all paging requests, including stat calls, while maintaining customer service goals. Demonstrates knowledge of policies and process flows regarding duties associated with main switchboard, patient information and code systems, online tools and thorough documentation to team leader for follow up when needed. Handles paging requests accurately and timely. Workload productivity shall reflect positively based on responsibilities and assignments. Able to initiate and execute all emergent response systems with accuracy and in a timely manner while remaining calm and professional. Demonstrates skill set to utilize all computer systems to include back up process. Engages in a team environment, following the RESPECT policies/guidelines. Does not participate in negative discussions with other staff unless it is to eliminate negativism by offering solutions. Assists in the orientation and / or on-boarding of new employees. Maintains adequate service levels by attention to calls in queue to minimize wait times and call handling processes.
