Job description Cashier Job Duties & Responsibilities Must be 21 years of age or older Greet customers as they arrive in the store and provide them with information regarding products and/or services Respond to customers' concerns and take necessary actions resolve their issues Take payment in exchange of items sold Bag, box and wrap purchased items Identify prices of goods using memory or scanner Enter transactions in the cash register and provide customers with the total bill Sort and count currency and coins Issue receipts and change to customers Count money at the beginning and ending of each shift Process exchanges and refunds Ensure that all checkout counters have enough cash Process credit card and check payments Perform the duties of customer service representative when required Assist in stocking shelves, rotating merchandise and marking prices Ensure management of daily cash accounts Create periodic transaction reports Ensure maintenance of checkout areas Open and close tills and store Train other staff members to work as cashier Keep the work area tidy and clean Keep a lookout of cars in the gas pump area Assist customers in pumping gas or pump gas for them if required Ensure that the convenience store part of the gas station is managed all times Supervise work activities of any sales representatives at the gas station receive stock and ensure that all items are displayed on the shelves Dust shelves and display items on a regular basis Ensure that the area around the gas pumps and the convenience store is cleaned and maintained properly Receive fuel trucks and supervise refilling of fuel pumps Deli Supervision and knowledge how to prepare deli items Must have current Food Worker Card, or provide it within 2 weeks of employment date
