Technical Design Assistant Turn Great Designs Into Great Products Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about product design and development? Do you enjoy working with patterns, technical specifications, and manufacturing processes? Commercial Sewing is seeking a Technical Design Assistant to support the development and production of innovative marine and powersports products. In this role, you'll help transform design concepts into production-ready products by managing technical data, supporting pattern development, and collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams. Whether your background is in textiles, fashion design, technical design, patternmaking, or product development, this is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment where your work has a direct impact on the final product. What You'll Do As a Technical Design Assistant, you'll be an important part of the product development process by: Maintaining and updating product specifications within the Vantage system. Managing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and ensuring documentation remains accurate and current. Creating, modifying, and maintaining mini patterns using the Gerber pattern design system. Supporting product development projects from design through production. Collaborating with engineering, patternmaking, and production teams to resolve design questions and improve product quality. Assisting with technical documentation, product records, and process updates. Conducting time studies and collecting production data to support process improvements. Helping coordinate research, testing, and development activities. Ensuring design and production information is accurate, organized, and accessible. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Strong computer skills and ability to learn technical software systems. Good mathematical aptitude and attention to detail. Basic blueprint reading and interpretation skills. Knowledge of patternmaking principles and sewing terminology. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Gerber, CAD, or other pattern design software. Background in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Product Development, Technical Design, Apparel Construction, or Patternmaking. Experience in a manufacturing or sewn-products environment.
