Job Description

For the 2026-2027 academic year, two full-time, onsite Sign Language Interpreters are needed to provide crucial support for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in a dynamic school environment near Montrose, CO. As a valued contributor, you'll bridge communication between students, educators, and peers to ensure access to all educational and extracurricular opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Deliver American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation during classes, assemblies, meetings, and school activities Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, staff, and others throughout the school day Maintain strict confidentiality in line with FERPA and district standards Collaborate with teachers, special education professionals, and service providers to encourage student achievement Review instructional materials to prepare effectively for daily interpreting assignments Adhere to professional and ethical standards for educational interpreters
Qualifications:
Colorado Educational Interpreter Authorization or eligibility to secure it through the Colorado Department of Education Associate's degree (or higher) in Educational Interpreting, ASL, or a closely related field EIPA Written Examination successfully completed EIPA Performance Score of at least 3.5 or current RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) Certification Ability to meet all state and district hiring requirements, including a background check Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities This is a full-time, onsite position aligned with the district's academic calendar, Monday-Friday. Experience in educational interpreting and advanced ASL proficiency are highly valued for these openings.
