Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a real difference for students by bringing your expertise in sign language interpretation to an educational setting. This full-time, full school year contract role focuses on supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a collaborative school environment close to Hephzibah, GA. Your skills will help create an inclusive and accessible learning experience, allowing students to reach their full academic potential.
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid EPIA score of 3.5 or above (required) Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience providing sign language interpretation in educational settings strongly preferred Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and staff Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to confidentiality Flexibility to adapt to various classroom activities and student needs
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities into sign language for students who are deaf or hard of hearing Facilitate communication between students, educators, peers, and staff Support IEP goals by ensuring clear and accurate interpretation Participate in meetings, student conferences, and professional development as needed Maintain professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information Adjust to a variety of subject matter, grade levels, and communication styles throughout the school day Working as a contracted team member in this supportive school district, you will impact students every day.
