Key Skills and Experience:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school setting Ability to adapt signing to the students language level and needs Understanding of cochlear implants and the unique needs of students who use them Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with educators, specialists, and families National Interpreter Certification or state credentials, as required

Role Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 interpreting services for a middle school student during the school day (7:35 am 2:20 pm) Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers in all academic and social settings Support the students full participation in classroom discussion, events, and activities Maintain accurate records and adhere to privacy and ethical standards Collaborate with staff and student support teams to ensure successful learning outcomes Offer feedback and suggestions to modify instructional strategies as needed This is a meaningful chance to help a student thrive academically and socially.
