Desired Qualifications:
Proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational environments EIPA score of 3.0 or higher required Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) for interpreters, or documentation showing active application for PEL Experience working in schools or with pediatric populations preferred Strong commitment to student advocacy and accessible education Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver accurate, confidential interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language for one elementary mainstream student Facilitate understanding during classroom lessons, extracurricular activities, and social interactions Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support student goals and IEP accommodations Maintain and model professional standards for confidentiality and ethical practice in a school setting Adapt interpreting style to meet the students communication preferences and changing classroom dynamics Benefit from a supportive, mission-driven environment where each day brings the chance to have a direct impact on student learning.
