Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Looking for a unique opportunity to support students in an educational setting? We're seeking skilled professionals with expertise in American Sign Language to make a difference as ASL Interpreters for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year in a contract role. Your ability to facilitate communication and provide access to education for deaf and hard of hearing students is essential to their academic journey and personal growth.
Desired Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or ASL Teacher, preferably in a school environment Certification as an ASL Interpreter (RID, EIPA, or equivalent preferred) Understanding of educational settings and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students, and families Strong communication and organizational skills Adept at maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Key Responsibilities:
Provide interpreting services to students, ensuring clear communication between students, teachers, and peers Support classroom instruction by translating spoken English into ASL and vice versa Adapt interpreting style to meet the needs and learning levels of individual students Participate in staff meetings, conferences, and IEP meetings as necessary Assist with classroom activities and school events that require interpreting services Foster a supportive and positive learning environment by facilitating inclusive communication Experience the impact of your work as you empower students and contribute to an accessible educational environment.
