Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Embark on a meaningful contract opportunity supporting hearing-impaired students within a dynamic educational environment near Kenner, LA. This full-time role (37.5 hours/week, M-F according to the school calendar) empowers you to truly impact student success across multiple campuses for the 2026-2027 school year. You'll work closely with the Coordinator of Speech, Hearing, and Autism in the Student Support Unit, delivering IEP-directed educational services and access for hearing-impaired students. Your expertise will be vital as you foster inclusive learning, support regular classroom teachers, and help ensure school personnel understand how to positively engage hearing-impaired learners.

Key Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and Louisiana teacher certification in Hearing Impaired required A minimum of three years' experience teaching hearing impaired students in a regular education setting Prior VOCO experience is necessary Basic proficiency in sign language, along with a collaborative and culturally responsive approach Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hearing aids, cochlear implants, and assistive listening devices Adept at managing IEP documentation, progress notes, and education records with strong computer skills Licensure in your state of residence Commitment to up-to-date credentialing, including fingerprints and district-required drug screening

Responsibilities:
