Full Job Description SUBJECT:
PARENT LIAISON - FULL TIMEREPORTS TO
Director of Enrollment & Student PlacementThe Worcester Public Schools is seeking a full-time Parent Liaison. This position is responsible for welcoming new families to the district and assisting with the enrollment of their children. If a language assessment is required, the Parent Liaison will also assist with the language screening. This role promotes positive relationships between the schools, students, and the community, while sharing information to strengthen parent awareness related to student placement and achievement.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Welcome new parents and families entering the Worcester Public School system.2. Assist families with enrolling their child or children in the Worcester Public Schools.3. Perform language proficiency testing in the four domains (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) for new students, when applicable.4. Adopt new technologies and protocols to maintain 21st-century skills.5. Travel to various school sites to conduct testing, when applicable.6. Facilitate clear and proactive communication between school staff, students, and their families to foster strong home-school relationships.7. Explain available programs and opportunities to students and their families.8. Maintain accurate records for students when enrolling and/or testing.9. Multitask effectively in a busy office environment with shifting priorities.10. Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bilingual skills (Albanian, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese or an African Language) 2. Computer skills. 3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working in an urban K-12 setting. 2. Experience teaching and/or supporting ELLs in a classroom environment. 3. Knowledge of language acquisition testing and programs. 4. ESL coursework and possible
ESL Master's Degree Salary:
$23.23 to $31.17 Per Hour based on degree and experience
Work Year:
This is a 52 week position. The workday is Monday through Friday (7.5 hours of work and .5 unpaid lunch). This is a union position as covered under the Parent Liaison Contract.
