Job Description

Step into a fulfilling contract opportunity as a dedicated 1:1 Sign Language Interpreter, supporting K-12 students near Lexington Park, MD. In this dynamic educational environment, youll work closely with a single student, fostering communication and inclusivity from now through the end of May 2027. This full-time position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while working collaboratively with a passionate school team.
Key Qualifications:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting. Holds an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.0 or higher. Comfortable working one-on-one with students, assisting in both academic and social settings. Ability to adapt communication style to meet varying student needs across grade levels K-12. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work alongside teachers, staff, and families.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide accurate and effective interpretation for a single student throughout the academic day, ensuring full access to curriculum and classroom activities. Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and staff in a variety of educational contexts, including the classroom, assemblies, and extracurricular events. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times while fostering a supportive learning environment. Participate in team meetings, IEP conferences, and ongoing professional development as required. Assist in adapting classroom materials and activities as needed to enhance student success.
