Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful school-based opportunity as a 1:1 Sign Language Interpreter, serving students in the K-12 setting near Lexington Park, MD. This full-time contract position offers the chance to make a direct impact by providing essential communication support within a diverse educational environment. You'll work closely with students, educators, and team members to facilitate learning and inclusion, starting as soon as possible and continuing through late May 2027.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Proficient in American Sign Language with demonstrated skills as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings Experience supporting K-12 students, ideally in a 1:1 capacity Current EIPA score of 3.0 or higher (required) Strong interpersonal abilities for collaborating with school staff, students, and families Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical interpreting standards
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct 1:1 interpreting services for assigned student(s) across various classroom settings and activities Ensure accurate and timely communication between students, peers, and staff Support students' academic and social development by fostering inclusion and engagement Collaborate with teachers and educational professionals to adapt communication methods based on student needs Assist in modifying instructional materials as necessary to advance student understanding
