Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract A full-time contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support an elementary student within a North Carolina school setting. This role requires a dedicated professional proficient in sign language interpretation and familiar with the educational environment.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Active North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Sign Language Interpreter license must be current and attached with application. Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher is required. Experience using the ECATS system is essential. Previous experience working as a sign language interpreter in school-based settings is highly preferred. Ability to collaborate effectively with educators and support student communication needs in the classroom.
Location:
The position is based at a middle school campus located in New London, NC, serving one elementary student with sign language interpreting needs.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct sign language interpreting services to an elementary student in educational settings. Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and support staff. Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to confidentiality standards. Collaborate with educational teams to support the student's academic and social development. Use ECATS for data entry and reporting related to student services.
Benefits:
Full-time engagement with a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week. Contract role offering a structured assignment from August through May.
