Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter - Telehealth Job Type Contract A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available in an educational setting located in Smithfield, VA. This contract role involves delivering interpretation services through telehealth, supporting students and staff communication needs. The position requires adherence to high standards in sign language interpretation to ensure effective educational access.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing sign language interpretation services during virtual educational sessions via telehealth platforms Collaborating with teachers, students, and staff to facilitate clear communication Preparing and maintaining accurate documentation of interpreted sessions as required Complying with school policies and standards for interpreter certification and performance Qualifications and experience: Possession of a minimum EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, encompassing both written and oral components, as mandated by the school Proven experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably with telehealth modalities Strong knowledge of sign language and cultural competency to support diverse student populations Ability to work 37.5 hours per week in a full-time schedule Benefits include: Opportunity to work in a reputable school environment with a longtime contract client Engagement in meaningful work that supports educational access for deaf and hard-of-hearing students Structured work hours providing routine and consistency Interested candidates with the necessary certification and experience are encouraged to apply promptly to contribute to this vital communication role within the school.
