9651457-23503 Job Description Step into an opportunity to make a meaningful difference supporting K-12 students! We are seeking a skilled professional with expertise in sign language interpretation and American Sign Language education for a rewarding full-time, in-person role near Norfolk, VA. This position focuses on bridging communication and fostering an inclusive environment across four school sites, creating impactful learning experiences for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Youll join a collaborative itinerant team, working closely with SLPs, SLPAs, and CFs, bringing your passion for accessible education to multiple campuses. With the school year beginning in August and potential orientation or training in July 2025, this is a fantastic opportunity to broaden your experience while connecting with a diverse community of educators and students. Your daily schedule runs approximately 7:30am3:00pm, Monday through Friday.
What were looking for:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or teaching ASL Previous work supporting K-12 students in educational settings preferred Ability to work itinerantly across multiple school sites Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Dedication to fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments Key responsibilities: Interpret classroom instruction and student communication using ASL Support educational engagement and participation for deaf or hard of hearing students Collaborate with teaching staff, SLPs, SLPAs, and CFs to maximize student outcomes Promote awareness and understanding of Deaf culture within school communities Adapt interpreting and teaching strategies based on each students unique needs Experience the fulfillment of empowering student success while enjoying the professional growth that comes from working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team.
