Job Description

We are recruiting for an Educational Interpreter for the Deaf to serve the Entiat School District. This position is 40 hrs/wk, school year schedule. General Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Special Education Teacher, the Educational Interpreter for the Deaf facilitates communication and assists teachers in the classroom. The Educational Interpreter for the Deaf works independently to provide services to students with hearing impairments within the school and home environment. See what it's like to work for our

The full salary range for this position is $30.18 - $36.72 per hour. As of 09/01/2026 the salary range is $30.96 - $37.67. Offers are made at the beginning of the range.
Essential Functions:
Interpret lectures, discussions, tests, films, assemblies and student comments in all school related settings. Interpret communications between hearing, deaf and hard of hearing students, parents and/or staff members in the classroom, at conferences, IEP meetings and other school activities. Assist certificated and classified staff to implement programs for students with hearing impairments. Work as a resource specialist with hearing impaired students and their teachers to develop language, articulation and academic skills within the school and home environment. Supervise students. Participate in staff meetings, inservice programs, workshops and seminars. Maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or GED. Must meet one of the following within one calendar year of employment: Pass the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a minimum score of 4.0 and the EIPA written test with a passing score; OR hold National Interpreter Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), and the EIPA written test with a passing score.
