Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Gaffer/G&E for a one-day documentary shoot in a Manhattan studio on Saturday, September 12. The shoot will serve as the orientation and introductory production day for our
NextGen News:
Stories of Service youth journalism fellowship. We will be filming professional sit-down interviews and headshots with approximately 15 high school scholars, along with staff interviews and behind-the-scenes documentary footage. We are looking for someone who can work closely with our DP to build and maintain a polished, cinematic interview lighting setup while also supporting basic grip needs throughout the day.Responsibilities include:
- Set up and light a professional sit-down interview area
- Work with the DP to achieve the desired visual look
- Set, adjust, and maintain lighting throughout multiple interviews
- Handle basic grip needs, including stands, modifiers, diffusion, flags, and related equipment
- Make quick lighting adjustments as different subjects rotate through the interview setup
- Assist with breakdown at the conclusion of the shoot
- Maintain a safe and organized set The ideal candidate has experience with documentary interviews, studio lighting, or commercial/cinematic interview setups and can work efficiently with a small production team.
