Position Overview:
The Robert D. Lindner Family OMNIMAX ® Theater is a giant screen dome theater located at Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC) which shows documentary films designed for giant screen and dome theaters. The Technician, OMNIMAX® Theater, assists with the operation of the Robert D. Lindner Family OMNIMAX ® Theater through technical theater operations and guest engagement, as well as contributing to the Cincinnati Museum Center Audio-Visual support team, which provides AV support to museum programs and special events at Cincinnati Museum Center, the Vontz Family Education, Research and Collections Center, and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
Responsibilities:
Facilitate daily operations of OMNIMAX ® Theater, including startup of projector, running shows for guests, and troubleshooting issues. Welcome guests for shows in an inviting, upbeat fashion, scan admission tickets, direct guests to seating areas, and introduce films and provide directions and guidelines to attendees. Appropriately address guest and Member needs and resolve issues. Operate a theater console which controls the sound, lights, and special effects for the presentations. Usher guests who have difficulty walking or who are in wheelchairs to the wheelchair accessible entrance via elevator access. Guide late arrivals to seats using a flashlight and assist patrons who need to leave the theater early. Maintain theater cleanliness. Set up, operate, and strike audio visual equipment for internal (museum staff) and external (event clients) events at Cincinnati Museum Center Union Terminal, the Vontz Family Education, Research and Collections Center, and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. Support other CMC teams, including Guest Engagement team, by scanning tickets at museum entrances, engaging with guests, etc. Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent, preferably with some college coursework in communication, hospitality, Audio/Video operation or electronic media field.
  • A strong technical background with knowledge of operating soundboards, video projectors, laptop computers, audio mixers, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Experience in public speaking with demonstrated presentation skills.
  • Customer services experience a plus. Two years of experience preferred.

Additional Requirements & Working Conditions:
The position is PT Hourly with the expectation of 25 hours per week. Position requires flexible availability which includes weekends, evenings, and holidays. This position requires long periods of standing, sitting and walking. Must be physically able to navigate stadium style seating, and able to assist in removing patrons in the event of emergencies. Our large format dome screen theater can make some feel overwhelmed. Must be able to feel balanced and grounded in this environment. This position will be exposed to loud sound volume in the theater during documentary films. The ability to lift 45 lbs. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required to transport to CMC satellite locations.
