About the Role Are you tech-savvy, visually minded, and eager to learn a unique design trade? We are looking for a Project Designer to serve as the vital link between our Sales and Production departments. In this role, you will act as our internal product and design expert across three primary lighting divisions: landscape lighting, seasonal Christmas lighting, and permanent holiday lighting . Functioning similarly to an architectural designer adapted to our industry, you will translate initial sales concepts into clear visual proposals and easy-to-read field blueprints. No prior CAD experience? No problem! We use straightforward, user-friendly design software, and our drawings are much simpler than traditional architectural blueprints. As long as you have solid computer skills and a basic grasp of layout or design concepts, we will fully train you.

Key Responsibilities Proposal Design & Sales Support:

Create complete visual proposals and design mockups for landscape and permanent holiday lighting projects. Deliver clear assets quickly (typically within 2 business days) to empower our sales team and set clear client expectations.

On-Site Surveys:

Conduct thorough site evaluations when complex projects demand detailed measurements, photos, and structural/electrical evaluations to eliminate job-site surprises.

Field Blueprinting:

Draft clear installation documents using our design software. Detail fixture placements, wire runs, power distribution, transformer specifications, and hardware requirements for our installation crews.

Cross-Department Collaboration:

Partner with Account Reps on complex client site visits and gather feedback from Field Leads/Project Managers to continuously refine design templates.

Product Expertise:

Build deep knowledge of physical installation techniques and stay current on new lighting products, hardware, and trends. ​Training & Field Work Expectations To design accurate blueprints, you need to understand how they are built in the real world. Hands-on field experience is a core part of your onboarding and growth:

Initial Field Training:

You will spend approximately 1 month working in the field with installation teams during the upcoming Holiday Lighting season, and another month in the field during the Spring/Summer landscape lighting season.

Ongoing Field Work:

Occasional field work as time goes on to keep your product knowledge fresh and maintain strong connections with our field crews. Qualifications Strong computer literacy and comfortable learning user-friendly design software A basic conceptual understanding of design, layout, or drafting (no direct CAD experience required) Strong spatial awareness and attention to detail Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to work full-time in-office at our Waunakee, WI location Comfortable working outdoors periodically during seasonal field training periods
