O'Connor Photography Studio is looking for energetic, dependable photographers to join our school photography team serving Snohomish, Skagit, and Whatcom Counties. This is a great opportunity for someone with photography experience who enjoys working with children and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. It's also an excellent fit for photographers who operate their own weekend photography business and want to supplement their income with weekday photography work during the school year. We welcome individuals returning to the workforce, veterans, and applicants from a variety of professional backgrounds. Spanish-speaking applicants are encouraged to apply.

SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT

We operate two primary photography seasons each year:

Fall:

Mid-August through early

December Spring:

February through mid-June School photography assignments are primarily Monday through Friday. Some assignments require very early starts, occasionally as early as 5:00 a.m. There is no overnight travel, and school photographers generally have weekends off. Additional Saturday opportunities may be available for photographers interested in youth and school sports photography.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a School Photographer, you'll work with our team to create a positive, professional, and enjoyable picture-day experience for students and school staff.

Responsibilities include:

Photographing students, staff, teams, and school groups Setting up and breaking down professional cameras, backgrounds, and lighting equipment Using computers and photography workflow software Helping students feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera Maintaining an efficient photography station while keeping picture day on schedule Working closely with fellow photographers and school personnel Loading and unloading photography equipment Maintaining professional standards throughout the school day Professional cameras, lighting, computers, and other photography equipment are provided.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Successful candidates should have: Photography experience Experience with cameras and studio lighting A positive, energetic, and friendly personality Excellent customer service and communication skills Patience and the ability to work well with children and teenagers Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Basic computer skills and the ability to learn photography software Ability to work efficiently in busy and occasionally noisy school environments Ability to work independently after completing training Professional appearance and demeanor Reliable cell phone and internet service Valid driver's license Reliable transportation and current auto insurance Clean driving record Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds Ability to report to work early when required Ability to successfully complete required background screening Dependability is extremely important. Schools operate on tight schedules, and our photography teams depend on every crew member arriving on time and ready to work.

A TYPICAL PICTURE DAY

Your day begins early at our Stanwood location, where the photography team prepares and loads equipment before traveling to the assigned school. Once on site, the entire crew works together to set up backgrounds, lighting, cameras, computers, and photography stations before students arrive. Throughout the school day, you'll photograph students and staff while creating a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. You'll work efficiently while helping each student feel comfortable and look their best. At the end of the assignment, the team breaks down and packs the equipment, thanks the school staff and volunteers, returns to Stanwood, and unloads and prepares for the next day's assignment. Everyone helps. Everyone contributes. Teamwork is an important part of the job.
